Emma Borgie
Emma Borgie is a Mechanical Engineering major in Notre Dame’s Class of 2026. Growing up in a military family of five, she is used to transitions and making her way in new environments. However, starting college meant significant changes to her routine, and her “broken” dorm door gave her pause in considering how she was going to approach this new beginning. Hence, in her meditation on an object essay for her Multimedia Writing Class, Emma explores how her dented dorm door that does not close is unexpectedly showing her the value of life experiences and how being intentionally open can enrich her life and the lives of others.
Emma would like to thank Notre Dame for randomly assigning her to Cavanaugh Hall’s Room 152 and Cavanaugh Hall for its “open door” policy.
